You’d be surprised
that as you grow up,
You’ll meet their eyes.
Their hair grows white
As you, in height
And one day,
You’ll surpass them
In sight
In fight
In life
So cherish what you have
Because one day you’ll think back
and realize
Maybe I should have listened
Maybe then I wouldn’t miss them
But you’d be surprised
Think of them fondly
Even when they treat you wrongly
Because then, you’re free
In conscience, at least
Consider them well
They’re all you have
They gave you smell
And sight, and touch, and life.
They loved you,
even when you fell
They want the best
For you, I mean
So treat them well
They’re still human beings
Be kind.
I surmise it will do you justice.
Because you’d be surprised
At how fast life goes by
You’d be surprised
that after all this time,
they are still right.
You’d be surprised...
You really would be...surprised...
When you realize that what they do for you is out of love, life will be just a little brighter. Choose kindness, even in your thoughts, because drowning in compassion is better than simply...drowning.
