February 7, 2025—The Alias Magazine's sixth issue, Shades of Meaning, has been recognized as an EXCELLENT magazine by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). This year, schools in 46 states and five countries nominated 422 student magazines. Magazines from middle school, high school, and higher education were welcomed for the 2024 contest.
The Alias Magazine is a student-run literary magazine project at Arcadia High School, led by the officers of The Writer's Den. We receive and publish student poetry, prose, visual art, and all otherwise creative expression.
The Writer’s Den is a chartered club that provides a supportive, collaborative environment for student writers of all levels.
We aim to improve student skills, explore different styles and genres, and support our members in achieving their most ambitious literary goals. As a community, we strive to help members discover writing in a new, creative light and develop the confidence to voice their unique perspectives in the 21st century.
Our advisor is Ms. Zaidi, and we meet in her classroom (D-106) weekly on Thursdays at lunch. We share our love for all things literary with the AHS student body: cards in library books, zines and messages around campus, and so much more!
